Ankita Konwar visits Pobitora Wildlife Reserve, guess the animal she spotted

In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, finding a corner of peace in the midst of nature is enough to relax your mind and soothe your senses. And that’s exactly what Fitness enthusiast and travel enthusiast Ankita Konwar did when she took a “day trip from Guwahati” and visited the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam.

Taking to Instagram, Ankita shared a video in which she can be seen enjoying a jeep safari when she spotted the animal the sanctuary is famous for. “An Indian horned rhino!” Just a day trip from Guwahati! ” she captioned the post.

Take a look at the majestic animal here:

The wildlife reserve, a favorite winter vacation spot near the city, boasts of wild flora and fauna, filled with immeasurable greenery and birdsong.

Famous for the regular sighting of the Great Indian One-horned Rhino, the sanctuary is nestled in the grasslands near Morigaon and is landlocked by villages on all sides. It is accessible by road from Guwahati.

A paradise for bird watchers, the sanctuary is home to more than 190 species of birds, including the spotted pelican, the white-bellied heron, the minor warrant officer, the great warrant officer and the Francolin marsh. The gangetic freshwater dolphins and numerous elephants are also a sight to see.

While there are plenty of things to do if you plan to visit Pobitora soon, the “magical” village of Mayong is a must-see on your itinerary. The village, located about 45 km from Guwahati town, was previously known to be a melting pot of black magic.

The name ‘Mayong’ comes from the Sanskrit word Maya (illusion), Miyong (Dimasa word for elephant) or Mom (mother or goddess Shakti) and In progress (part). Currently, the village houses ancient relics and archaeological objects at the Mayong Central Museum and Emporium.

The best time to visit is between November and April. “Please note that during the months of May and October all national parks will be partially closed, we cannot pre-book safaris, only accommodation and transport can be booked. All safaris in May and October are subject to availability on (direct payment basis), ”the website reads.
