Aranyakam Nature Foundation rewards the best presentations on wildlife conservation | Lifestyle News
As part of the celebration of Wildlife Week, an online presentation competition was organized by Aranyakam Nature Foundation on wildlife conservation outside protected areas – wildlife sanctuaries and national parks – for first year students. Kerala Undergraduate and Postgraduate Colleges and winners have been announced. .
Lulu Mujeeb Rahman, BSc Botany graduate from Devagiri College, Kozhikkode, received first prize for her presentation on wetland conservation in Mavoor.
Saranya, a BSc Botany graduate from SD College Alappuzha, won second place for her presentation on strategies for wildlife conservation in Alappuzha. Meanwhile, Christina Jacob, a graduate with a master’s degree in zoology from Dr. Gafoor Memorial MES College Mampad, was ranked third for her presentation on wildlife conservation outside Nilambur protected areas.
Over 150 participants entered the competition and 12 presentations were shortlisted on the basis of merit. A jury composed of experts Dr PS Easa, President of the Aranyakam Nature Foundation and Former Director, KFRI; Dr Ajith Kumar, former director of the NCBS Wildlife Course; James Zacharias, former deputy forestry curator; Shilpa V Kumar IFS, Assistant Conservator of Forests, evaluated the live presentations and selected the winners.
