ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – December 13, 2020): The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam announced that the Islamabad Marghazar Zoo will soon be transformed into a wildlife conservation center world class.

According to a press release published here, he said a comprehensive plan had been drawn up to transform the Islamabad Marghazar Zoo into a wildlife conservation center.

He said a decision to this effect was taken by the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) at its second meeting held on December 8, chaired by its president Rina Saeed Khan.

Named the Margalla Wildlife Conservation Center, the facility will be the first of its kind to be implemented at the cutting edge of technology and well planned as part of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Clean and Green Agenda for Comprehensive Environmental Sustainability and Conservation of wildlife, which will be home to local wildlife kept in open enclosures for public entertainment, education and research, SAPM revealed.

He pointed out: “This was a brand new concept rolled out as part of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Clean and Green Pakistan program and the current government’s wildlife and environmental conservation and protection policies. as part of biodiversity conservation efforts. Malik Amin Aslam said the wildlife conservation facility will span 82 acres in the foothills of Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP) and house wildlife sanctuaries, a veterinary hospital, rescue and trauma center. for native species and research on flora and fauna of the MHNP.

Due to its proximity to the MHNP, the area was a natural habitat for wildlife, which would be redesigned to help us meet our national commitments regarding the conservation, protection and welfare goals of wildlife, a- he added.

“All available resources would be used to develop a facility at the Margalla Wildlife Conservation Center for the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife in their natural habitat.

It is also part of the plan for the rescue and rehabilitation of injured and abandoned wild animals, as well as their treatment and feeding for their full rehabilitation, which would be released into their natural habitat after their recovery in the rescue and rehabilitation center. from the center.

Stating overarching goals, Aslam said the proposed wildlife conservation center would aim to promote wildlife conservation and sustainability.

The planned rehabilitation / rescue center would be well trained and endowed with qualified and trained skills in wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and management; veterinarians and wildlife specialists to ensure strong management with scientific operations based on the concept of animal welfare and health care for them, he added.

The prime minister’s assistant also revealed that the wildlife conservation center will also house an education and information center to raise awareness of the local flora and fauna.

The introduction of electric trains was also part of the plan that would give visiting families, especially children, a lively, pollution-free entertainment experience of being in the world-class animal safari park.
