In partnership with the Tacoma Pride Festival and the Rainbow Center, both zoos displayed pride flags at their entrances in recognition of the LGBTQ+ community. Animals at Point Defiance Zoo will enjoy rainbow-colored treats while facilities at NorthWest Trek will be decorated with Pride-themed cutouts and ornaments this weekend.

Point Defiance Zoo and Northwest Trek Director Alan Varsik said, “We are committed to being welcoming and inclusive places of connection for all members of our community.”

Rainbow Center Director Troy Christensen said, “These types of events showcase the resilience of the community and the spirit of Pride. “We hope this year’s Pride celebration will show how our community is woven into the fabric of Tacoma and our South Sound region. .”

Admission to events is free and tickets are now available online.
