According to STAN President Teo Chee Kim, the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, Rainforest Discovery Centre, Turtle Islands Park, Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary and Pygmy Elephant conservation are all located here in Sandakan. This is a unique position that Sandakan finds itself in, we must fully capitalize on establishing Sandakan as a premier center for wildlife conservation and research, attracting conservation experts and research fellows who will be based here to conduct their studies.
