Yorkshire Wildlife Park winter illuminations dates, ticket prices and how to book as the magic lights return for 2021

The winter illuminations at Yorkshire Wildlife Park are back for 2021, bigger and brighter than ever.

There are four enchanted worlds to explore at this year’s event at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster and the trail of lights and lanterns is generally a jaw-dropping experience.

With exciting themes ranging from Under the Sea to a world of fantasy, the park’s light show has become a spectacular festive tradition.

It takes around 90 minutes to complete the trail – expect giant giraffes and magnificent flamingos to tower above you, shining brightly.

The route will start at the Yorkshire Hive and cycle through the park in a circular loop to Wallaby Walkabout and then return to the Yorkshire Hive.

It is intended that there will be a whole world of fantasy

The sculptures are made from giant lanterns.

It is also fully accessible to wheelchair users, although some areas of the winter illuminations may be on slightly uneven ground, and some areas will be dimly lit.

Dates of winter illuminations

The Winter Illuminations will take place on the following dates:

  • Thursday November 18 – Sunday November 21
  • Friday November 26 – Sunday November 28
  • Friday December 3 – Sunday January 9

The Yorkshire Wildlife Park and winter illuminations will be closed on Christmas Day.

Winter Illuminations ticket prices

If you are visiting for the illuminations, you can also add a YWP entry during the day.

Visitors opting for daytime entry and then evening illuminations will need to vacate the park before the illuminations open – YWP recommends booking an earlier time slot or using the time to explore the shops, play areas and the restaurants of the Yorkshire Hive.

Here are the ticket prices for 2021:

  • Adults: £20 for winter illuminations only, £30 with additional daytime WYP entry
  • Seniors/students: £18 for illuminations, £28 with additional park entry during the day
  • Children aged 3-15: £17 for illuminations, £27 with additional daytime park entry

  • Disabled adult: £14 for illuminations, £24 with additional daytime park entry

  • Disabled senior/student: £12 for illuminations, £22 with additional park entry during the day

  • Disabled child: £11 for illuminations, £21 with additional park entry during the day

  • Official attendant for a disabled visitor: £6 for illuminations, £6 with additional park entry during the day

Children two and under are free.

How to book tickets

All tickets for the winter illuminations must be reserved in advance. YWP expects key dates to sell out quickly and recommends that you book your tickets as soon as possible. The event will take place on timed entry slots, these will take place every 15 minutes from 4pm to 7pm. 2020 Winter Illuminations Notice

Critics of the 2020 event described the illuminations as magical, fabulous and “definitely worth seeing”.

One said: “I had a fabulous experience at the Winter Lights at Yorkshire Wildlife Park on December 17.

“The illuminations were brilliant, amazing – fabulous! A different array of animals, flowers and imaginary creatures.

“I liked it.”
